Five marked cycling trails take you through Vi\u0161kovo and its surroundings, an area of great natural beauty where the modern way of life is intertwined with tradition. The Vi\u0161kovo Trail <\/strong>is ideal for families and takes you towards Ronjgi, the birthplace of the composer Ivan Mateti\u0107 Ronjgov<\/a>. The birth house of this great musician now features a museum and a restaurant on the ground floor offering local specialities. From Ronjgi, the trail leads up to Zorzi\u0107i, a small village right on Petrolejska Cesta with a \u0161terna<\/em> water well from 1904. The nearby village of Globi\u0107i, the birthplace of the writer Berto Lu\u010di\u0107,<\/a> offers a beautiful view of Kvarner. Further uphill, the trail reaches the village of Lu\u010di\u0107i. A former quarry and a unique open-air exhibition<\/a> can be found nearby. Just before Skva\u017ei\u0107i, the trail turns right onto Ple\u0161ivac forest path,<\/a> which leads to Bi\u0161kupi, a village where visitors can experience typical architecture of the area. After exiting the village, the road returns to the centre of Vi\u0161kovo via Mladeni\u0107i.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Kastav<\/strong> trail<\/strong> leads along the side roads and forest paths away from the centre of Vi\u0161kovo. This rather demanding trail heads east in the direction of Furi\u0107evo, where it turns left and continues slightly uphill through Trtni to Mladeni\u0107i. After crossing the road, it continues along an old cart track through Mavri to Gornji Sroki, after which it descends to Srokov Kal, turns right and continues in the direction of Kastav. Those who like challenges can turn right in Gornji Turki towards Jelovi\u010dani and Lu\u017eina Forest. The less demanding route leads straight on from Gornji Turki to the road and then follows a forest path towards Donji Jugi. In the vicinity of this village lies Kapitovac<\/a>, an inexhaustible water source that attests to the unbreakable bond between man and nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Studena<\/strong> trail<\/strong> leads in the direction of Sar\u0161oni and Petrolejska Cesta, along which we continue to the village of Zorzi\u0107i. An old cart track leads through Ne\u017enica forest to the main road to Studena. Petrolejska Cesta descends to the village of Mar\u010delji, which is home to two cultural assets inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage<\/a>: the pageant of the Halubajski zvon\u010dari <\/em>bell ringers, whose roots are here in Mar\u010delji, and two-part singing, which was first notated by Ivan Mateti\u0107 of the village of Ronjgi. From Mar\u010delji, we turn towards Kosi and reach the centre of Vi\u0161kovo after passing the villages of Jardasi, Dovi\u010di\u0107i and \u0160iroli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Source of the River\nRje\u010dina trail <\/strong>starts in the centre of Vi\u0161kovo and continues via Mladeni\u0107i in the\ndirection of Sar\u0161oni and Lu\u010di\u0107i. After a short climb, it reaches Lon\u010deva Gri\u017ea\npass, and then a serpentine road descends to Trnovica. After crossing the River\nRje\u010dina and turning towards Kukuljani, we follow the river upstream to its\nsource. From there, we return to Lon\u010deva Gri\u017ea pass and further down to\nSar\u0161oni, and continue along Petrolejska Cesta to Gari\u0107i where we can see\ncenturies-old houses, preserved examples of traditional architecture. The most\nprominent among them is ‘Cenetina Ku\u0107a’, a protected monument of culture. After\nthat, the route descends through Mar\u010delji to the centre of Vi\u0161kovo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Breza<\/strong> trail<\/strong> leads towards Sar\u0161oni and Ronjgi to the village of Zorzi\u0107i and Petrolejska Cesta, where it continues in the direction of Klana. At Pogled, the trail turns onto a forest path and continues to Breza. On your way, you\u2019ll encounter interesting remnants of fortifications from the period of the Italian occupation, since in the past this was the border between the Kingdom of Italy and the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes. The road above Breza leads to the centre. Past the cemetery and old Italian military barracks, we reach a crossroads where we turn left and continue along a forest trail to Jardasi. The route reaches the village of \u0160iroli via Dovi\u010di\u0107i and returns to the centre of Vi\u0161kovo along a byway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n HALUbike<\/a>, a regular and electric bike rental system with stations in Ronjgi and on the Milihovo parking area, will satisfy your need for recreational activities.
